Dr. Jessica E. Johnson
-
A graduate of Millsaps College, Dr. Johnson earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Chemistry Pre-Med. She began her career as a Second Grade Teacher Assistant at Lester Elementary, where her passion for teaching and learning flourished. Committed to furthering her education and leadership, she obtained her Master of Arts in Teaching, Specialist, and Doctorate in Leadership—all from Mississippi College.
Throughout her career, Dr. Johnson has taught Elementary Math, Science, and History, as well as Middle and High School Science. Since 2015, she has served in several leadership roles, including Instructional Coach, Department Chair, Curriculum Specialist, Middle School Principal, and High School Assistant Principal.
She believes that “all children can learn; we must be creative and willing enough to meet them where they are and take them where we need them to go.” Her favorite quote, “Excellence is not a skill. It is an attitude,” reflects her commitment to fostering a culture of high expectations and continuous growth.
Her guiding verse, Proverbs 3:5-6, reminds her daily of the purpose and faith behind her calling:
“Trust in the Lord with all thy heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
Dr. Jessica Johnson is the proud mother of two children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring new ideas in education, and continuing to learn and grow as both an educator and a leader.

Nicole Dobbins
Nicole M. Dobbins, the 11th-grade Assistant Principal at Jim Hill High School, is a dedicated educator with 25 years of experience in shaping young minds. A proud native of Jackson, Mississippi, Mrs. Dobbins graduated from Lanier High School and earned her Master’s in Education Administration from Jackson State University.
Outside her professional life, Mrs. Dobbins is a loving wife and mother of four, finding joy in spending quality time with her family and friends. She is also an avid traveler, appreciating the opportunity to explore new places and cultures.
In addition to her work in education, Mrs. Dobbins is the author of the children’s book Cooking with Granny, a heartfelt tribute to her beloved grandmother.
Mrs. Dobbin’s favorite quote, "Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise," reflects her optimistic outlook on life and her commitment to inspiring resilience in others.

Vertis Holmes
Mr. Vertis L. Holmes serves as the 9th Grade Assistant Principal at Jim Hill High School, bringing over two decades of experience in education and leadership within the Jackson Public School District. Mr. Holmes earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Jackson State University and continued his education at Mississippi College, where he obtained both a Master’s Degree and an Educational Specialist Degree. With 22 years of dedicated service in education, Mr. Holmes has held a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, middle school assistant principal, middle school principal, and high school assistant principal. His extensive experience has equipped him with the skills and vision to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students.
Mr. Holmes is deeply committed to the belief that all scholars are capable of learning and achieving success. His leadership philosophy centers on fostering a positive and inclusive environment where every student is empowered to reach their full potential. In his role at Jim Hill High School, Mr. Holmes remains passionate about preparing students for future success and cultivating a culture of excellence and lifelong learning.

Dr. Shaletha Wilson-Fisher
Dr. Fisher is a product of Jackson Public Schools. She grew up in the Washington Addition neighborhood and is a proud graduate of Jim Hill High School. Dr. Fisher started her career in Jackson Public Schools as an English teacher before moving on to work in the district’s curriculum department as a Curriculum Lead for two years.
She attended Jackson State University and received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in English. After working as an educator for several years, she went on to receive her Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Supervision from Jackson State University.
Dr. Fisher believes that anyone can achieve anything through hard work and dedication. The quest for knowledge is a lifelong endeavor. If there is one quote to reflect Dr. Fisher’s belief in the importance of an education, it would be by Malcolm X: “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”
